From University World News: “Congressional staffers in Washington are keeping a wary eye on the progress of a class action antitrust case that alleges that 17 of the United States’ most elite colleges and universities colluded in offering financial aid, starting for the bulk of these schools in 2003. … The antitrust action, brought under the Sherman Antitrust Act, alleges that by colluding with each other as to the amount of financial need students have, universities would illegally restrict access by students requiring financial aid and that they would award these students less financial aid than they otherwise would have provided, effectively raising the cost of their higher education.”
