Will foreign students pay for a U.S. degree?

From The Chronicle of Higher Education: “Recent estimates … suggest that it will take an average of 18 years for a master’s student from India who returns home after graduation to pay off a degree from an American private college. That’s twice as long as for any of the United States’ major competitor countries. The cost of the same degree at a public college could take 15.2 years to recoup. Indian master’s students have been the engine [subscription required] of post-pandemic international-enrollment … Undergraduates from China, drivers of the previous enrollment boom, take even longer to recover the cost of their education once returning home — 15.6 years for public-college graduates and 20.5 years for those with private-college degrees.”
