Amplifying Cal Lutheran University’s story to fuel record growth

Cal Lutheran empowers students to discover their passion and their purpose. Rooted in collaboration and equity, the university prepares graduates with the confidence, skills, and perspective to make a positive impact in their careers and communities.

Over the years partnering with Kiosk, Cal Lutheran has faced the core challenge of building awareness and driving enrollment in a highly competitive higher education market. As a small, private nonprofit, it competes with larger public and private institutions that have greater visibility and bigger marketing budgets.

To continue growing its undergraduate and graduate programs, Cal Lutheran needed to amplify brand awareness, strengthen word-of-mouth marketing among applicants, and guide prospective students through its funnel more effectively.

Strategy & Execution

Breaking through the noise required Cal Lutheran to improve the journey from lead to enrollment and fine-tune its brand’s story so it would spread organically among prospective students. To pave the way for enrollment growth, we designed and pursued a two-pronged strategy. 

On the awareness side, we leveraged the university’s sports marketing connections, expanded its social media presence, and deepened its engagement with local high schools and community colleges. And on the lead generation side, we doubled down on our growth strategy.

Results

An improved lead-to-enrollment journey breaks records.

Our lead generation strategy drove the highest number of applicant inquiries to date. In fact, a brand lift study confirmed its impact: Cal Lutheran’s awareness more than doubled since 2022.
